Compassion Kriya

(Authentic Relationships, Level 2 Manual, p. 92)

Posture: Sit in easy pose or in a chair with a straight spine with a light neck lock.

Focus: The eyes are closed.

Breath and Mudra: Sing with a lyrical version of Rakhay Rakhanahaar.

Mantra: Rakhay Rakhanahaar is a victory song which allows us to be guided by God’s graceful and merciful hand. It does away with the obstacles to fulfilling one’s destiny.

Movement:

On the first line of the mantra, bring hands up and press them into the chest, one palm over the other.

(b) On the second line of the mantra, lower arms so wrists rest on knees. Continue alternating in this way, but with the hands at the chest for the last line that repeats twice. Then briefly lower and raise again for the first line.

(a) Rakhay rakhanahaar aap ubaaria-an

(b) Gur kee pairee paa-i kaaj savaari-an

(a) Hoaa aap da-iaal manaho na visaari-an

(b) Sadh janaa kai sang bhavajal taari-an

(a) Saakat nindak dusht khin maa-eh bidaari-an

(b) Tis sahib kee tayk Naanak mania maa-eh

(a) Jis simrat sukh ho-i sagalay dukh jaa-eh

(a) Jis simrat such ho-I sagalay dukh jaa-eh.

(briefly lower the hands and then continue).

Meaning of Mantra:

The protector who shields all has liberated me.

By falling at the Guru’s feet my life is made beautiful.

He is the merciful One who does not forget.

In the company of saints you can cross the ocean of fear.

The worshipper of this world, slanderers and enemies he destroys.

O Naanak, take refuge with the Lord in your mind.

Remembering Him, you shall have peace and suffering shall depart.

Time: Continue for 31 minutes.

End: Not indicated. Inhale, hold briefly and relax.

Comments: The only beautiful thing which makes you human is compassion. Think about vengeance, lies, truth, God, greatness, think of anything. If you take compassion out of it, everything becomes bitter. Compassion is a value of life; it is power; it is God and meditation; it is truth. Compassion gives you the strength to go through suffering and yet, feel no pain. There is absolutely no grace without compassion.
