Mata Mandir Singh is a chant music pioneer having produced more than 25 albums over the past 30 years. His “Yoga of Sound” CD series is still regarded as one of the finest chant album series released to date. His latest “Turn of the Age” CD is music designed to tune you into the eternal flow of spirit as we move into the Age of Aquarius. When Shakta first began teaching Kundalini Yoga and Meditation she used Mata Mandir’s “Yoga of Sound” CD series quite a bit.
KYL is pleased to welcome Mata Mandir Singh to his first ever kirtan* in Chicago! We hope you will be able to join us for what we know will be an exhilarating event!
* Kirtan is devotional music from northern India, often thought of as a ‘call and response’ type of chant gathering. Yogi Bhajan’s definition is, “.
. . ‘kir’ means ‘the hand,’ ‘tan’ means ‘the body.’ When the hands and body meet, then internal music is created. Suppose you have no place to play an instrument; let your body become the instrument. And, pavan, the prana, becomes your projection and feelings.”
Designed for people who have no interest in physical yoga but who would like the benefits of meditation to invoke clarity and calmness of mind.
deepen your awareness, clear the noise, manifest peace
Harness Your Mind to Serve You...
Kundalini yogis have been gifted with meditations that will physically rewire the brain and create new circuits; the net impact being:
calm the emotions
allow clarity and focus
turn off the inner chatter
manifest your destiny
live peacefully within the chaos of life.
The technology of meditation has been available for thousands of years,
but is just now being researched in order to quantify the benefits. A
recent book, How God Changes Your Brain (take a peek), provides a detailed look
at just one Kundalini meditation (of thousands) called Kirtan Kriya.
It changes your brain - in positive ways - making your life better.
This course is called a 'clinic' because we teach meditations which have a
healing purpose - gently moving the nerves and chemistry of the brain to effect
a change in your wellness. Existing mental patterns which do not serve you
(like ruts in a road) will vanish under a new superhighway of freely flowing
energy; connecting all facets of your being and revealing your place in the
scheme of life. Class fee is $13 or 60-minute/Monthly class card. Please call Hari Dev with your questions - (312) 922-4699.
Engage your will - Express your excellence - Reclaim your life!

Gong and Mantra Night - Friday after Thanksgiving
with Shakta Kaur, Sanjam Singh, & Hari Dev Singh
Friday, November 27 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm
($15 in advance)
Gratitude and appreciation become the focus during our November session of the ‘Healing Power of Triple Gong and Mantra.’ As always we will begin with light Kundalini Yoga, then move into a long, deep relaxation with not one, not two, but
three Paiste symphonic gongs. After the gongs we will vibrate the cosmos with mantra.*
Our sadhana** during this session of the ‘Healing Power of Triple Gong and Mantra’ on the day after Thanksgiving is to be grateful for the breath of life that flows through us; for the food in our refrigerator which feeds us; and for the abundance of material wealth that surrounds us, just to name a few.
Similarly, the sadhana of appreciation is to turn our thanks towards the people in our lives. Don’t hesitate to let someone know how much you esteem and value them. Appreciation for the people in our lives is not expressed often enough. As the Catholic mystic, Meister Eckhart once said, "If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough." So begin there, with ‘thank you.’ Then come join us for the ‘Healing Power of Triple Gong and Mantra’ and see how your heart opens with gratitude for all that you have been given.
*Mantra: ‘Man’ = mind. ‘Tran(g)’ = wave or projection. The science of mantra is based on the knowledge that sound is a form of energy having structure, power and a definite predictable effect on the patterns of the mind, the chemistry of the brain and on the human psyche.
**Sadhana (pronounced sod nah) means the regular daily practice of yoga, meditation and related exercises.
Suburban Yoga Network Community (SYNC) at KYL
Monday, November 30
12 noon to 1:15 pm ‘Healing Power of Gong & Mantra’ with Shakta Kaur and Hari Dev Singh
1:30 to 2:30 pm – Potluck Lunch and Share
If you are a suburban yoga teacher
- of any tradition - why not join us at SYNC's Nov. 30th downtown Chicago visit to Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) for a special 'Healing Power of Gong and Mantra' class? Shakta Kaur will lead us through some light Kundalini Yoga (suitable for all levels) and then we will move into a relaxation with not one, but two,
Paiste symphonic gongs. Shakta’s husband, Hari Dev Singh, will join her to help deeply relax and rejuvenate
your body with a luxurious double-gong deep relaxation.
Yogi Bhajan used to say that ‘the mind will have absolutely no defense to the gong after 90 seconds.’ After our gong deep relaxation Shakta will guide us as we use primal sounds (mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound; on vibration. And, as always, when we tune into a particular combination of sounds we experience a different level of consciousness.
All suburban yoga teachers are welcome to come heal
yourself and others at the Suburban Yoga Network Community's
(SYNC) Nov. 30 meeting in downtown Chicago at KYL for the
‘Healing Power of Gong and Mantra.' $11 per person (or a

- as ‘Sat Nam.’ Penetrating through illusions and always relating to the true Essence—the Oneness of all—in your relationships is the ultimate goal.
Come explore how to:
Create and maintain Soul-based relationships;
Honor the polarities of the male and female energies;
Recognize and create Authentic Relationships in each area of your life; and
Cultivate personal practices that develop your capacity for Authentic Relationships.
Each day you will study with the Master--Yogi Bhajan--in a video class and meditation. In addition, you will work individually and in groups, exploring the key concepts and ideas in Authentic Relationships. You will experience kriyas* and meditations as well as other processes to recognize how your personal life is affected both by Authentic Relationships and by relationships with a false core.
This is a 60+ hour course; one of five Level 2 modules. Fifty hours are spent in the classroom with 12 hours of home-study to be completed 90 days after the course concludes.
Your Faculty:
Lead Trainer KRI Director of Training Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, Ph.D. We are graced with the return of Gurucharan Singh to Chicago for ‘Authentic Relationships.’ Gurucharan is an expert in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®, and has been the interpreter and compiler of his teachings since 1969. He serves as the International Director of Teacher Training for the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI), which he co-founded in 1972.
Level 2 Trainer GuruMeher Singh Khalsa serves as the Director of Training at Yogi Bhajan’s original yoga studio,
Yoga West, in Los Angeles. GuruMeher has over 25 years experience teaching Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. He is a respected life coach who helps others via yoga, meditation and personal mentoring to accelerate growth, remove obstacles and increase their happiness.
*In Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® a kriya is a sequence of postures, breath and sound that are integrated together to manifest a particular state. When you practice a Kundalini Yoga kriya the result of its repetition is access to a particular, predictable and stable state—one facet of your awareness.

New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
"
We are accustomed to wisdom that is expressed in words.
Kundalini Yoga is expressed through the medium of action. It can
only speak to you, if you do it.
"
