Saturday Morning Long Ek Ong Kar at KYL
|
Public Sadhana - Saturday, June 12 Long Chant – Morning Call
The Adi Shakti Mantra: Ek Ong Kar |
4:00 am – Japji (meditative prayer)* 4:20 am – Warm-Ups 4:30 am – Long Chant, Morning Call, Ek Ong Kar 7:00 am – Hukam for the Day**
7:20 am – Breakfast Snacks at KYL (bring a dish to share!)
Join KYL’s teachers-in-training on their graduation weekend for the experience of chanting Long Ek Ong Kar (Morning Call) for two and a half hours this coming Saturday! ‘Long Ek Ong Kar’ is the cornerstone of early morning group practice and is often called simply, ‘Long Chant.’ It is also referred to as ‘Morning Call.’ It initiates the Kundalini, initiating the relationship between the soul and the Universal Soul while balancing all the chakras.
The meaning of ‘Ek Ong Kar Sat Nam Siri Wahe Guru,’ is: ‘One Creator created this Creation. Truth is His Name. Great beyond description is His infinite wisdom.’ Yogi Bhajan said about this mantra, ‘In the time period two-and-a-half hours before the rising of the Sun, when the channels of energy are most clear, if the Mantra is sung in sweet harmony, you will be one with the Lord. This will open the solar plexus, which in turn will charge the solar centers. The person will get connected with the Cosmic Energy, and thus will be liberated from the cycle of time and karma.’
There is no charge for this special early morning sadhana.
* Japji is a prayer which relates the conscious mind to the soul. ‘Jap-’ is often translated as ‘song of’ and ‘-ji’ as ‘the soul.’ As a result, Japji is called ‘the song of the soul.’
** A ‘hukam’ is the divine order of the day. *** Sadhana (pronounced ‘sod nuh’) is, literally, ‘spiritual discipline;’ the early morning daily spiritual practice.

you will learn how to consistently connect with the true identity of yourself and others.
You will gain the skills to prevent judgments, fears or circumstances
from obstructing your view of the true identity of everyone in your life
- as ‘Sat Nam.’ Penetrating through illusions and always relating to the true Essence—the Oneness of all—in your relationships is the ultimate goal.
Come explore how to:
- Create and maintain Soul-based relationships;
- Honor the polarities of the male and female energies;
- Recognize and create Authentic Relationships in each area of your life; and
- Cultivate personal practices that develop your capacity for Authentic Relationships.
Each day you will study with the Master--Yogi Bhajan--in a video class and meditation. In addition, you will work individually and in groups, exploring the key concepts and ideas in Authentic Relationships. You will experience kriyas* and meditations as well as other processes to recognize how your personal life is affected both by Authentic Relationships and by relationships with a false core.
This is a 60+ hour course; one of five Level 2 modules. Fifty hours are spent in the classroom with 12 hours of home-study to be completed 90 days after the course concludes.

Paiste Symphonic Gongs
|
Paiste Gongs Available For Sale at KYL.
28"
30" 32" |
|
The gong is the sound of creation, and those
sounds perfectly match the energetic meridians of the human
body. This is an under-utilized 'sound therapy' that turns
off the stressors in the body/mind, releases blocks, and brings forth the
relaxation response.
Paiste Symphonic Gongs have a slightly raised
surface with a harmonic and universal sound structure. The
fundamental note of the gong is balanced with the instrument's
complex overtones. Your mind has no defense to the gong after 90
seconds.
Call to arrange a private showing and testing of the gongs at KYL (312)

Journey to India with KYL
|
Visit India – Change Your Life!
Join Shakta Kaur and Hari Dev Singh on this magnificent journey to India!
Feb. 14–28, 2011 (optional
extension to March 2)
|
FOR ALL SPIRITUAL SEEKERS, TRAVEL TO INDIA HAS A SPECIAL APPEAL. The very land is steeped in spirituality, where many ancient practices were developed and perfected over 5,000 years ago. Simply walking the land can leave a profound and lasting imprint on your soul. To transform your life sometimes requires a journey which will change the way you view yourself and the world.
This is the third tour to India that Shakta and Hari Dev have led with the guidance of tour operator Deepak Singh of Spiritual Journeys.
While maintaining all the comforts of home you will have the profound experience of India;
absorbing the rich spiritual traditions while enjoying safe food, excellent lodging and the guidance of experienced staff.
Highlights of our tour include:
• Participating in the 5-day Punarnava conference “Ayurveda and Yoga: Where Science Meets Consciousness” held in Rishikesh (the yoga capital of the world); • Visiting the sacred Golden Temple in Amritsar; • Seeing the Taj Mahal in Agra on a beautiful sunrise tour; • Washing away your karmas in the Mother River Ganges; • Visiting Old and New Delhi; • Walking the holy ground where Lord Buddha spoke his first sermon after 'awakening'
(optional extension tour to Sarnath/Varanasi).
The BBC has listed the Golden
Temple and Taj Mahal as two of the top ten sites to visit in the
world. The basic tour fee of $1,835 includes
the conference, comfortable lodging, sacred ceremonies,
breakfast daily and English-speaking guides throughout the trip
(land only – airfare to and from India is approximately $1,300
additional). Besides visiting the great religious and cultural
sites, and walking in the footsteps of the Masters, our tour
also provides time to “shop with Shakta” in the bazaars (an
experience in and of itself!) and partake in local customs and
ceremonies. The optional extension tour is $400
additional. For more information

Paying It Forward

PAYING IT FORWARD
by Shakta Kaur
“Sunia Sidh Peer Sur Naath” -- Japji, Pauri 8
‘By hearing God’s Name the mortal becomes a perfect person,
religious guide, spiritual hero and a great yogi.’
|
These words are from Japji*, a meditative prayer, chanted by Kundalini yogis worldwide during the early morning hours. And these words were the inspiration behind the creation of a special scholarship fund—the Devi Scholarship—available to applicants of Chicago’s Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) 220-hour Yoga Alliance (YA) registered Teacher Training course.
These words took hold in the soul of one of our first graduates. His response to the stirring in his soul was to begin a scholarship fund with personal funds so that whoever wanted to take the incredible journey called Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training as taught by Yogi Bhajan® could do so regardless of financial need. He named the fund after his mother, Devi Kaur, because it was she who urged him to take his first Kundalini Yoga class. It was his way of paying back for all that he had received from the course—gurudakshina** of another sort.

New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
"
We are not asking you to become religious. We are definitely asking you to become spiritual. For God’s sake, find your soul. Find out where you have come from, what you are doing here and where you are going. Look at the map of your life.
