Triple
Gong & Mantra Night
Friday -
May 6 - 6:30 to 7:45 pm
Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) The Fine Arts Building - Suite 501
Bring a friend and join us for one of KYL’s regular monthly sessions of Gong and Mantra. Each ‘Healing Power of Gong & Mantra’ session begins with light yoga (suitable for any body). Then we move into deep relaxation with not one, not two, but three beautiful Paiste symphonic gongs.
The gong is a reinforced vibration that impacts the entire body by releasing blocks and reducing tension to allow the flow of all blessings. After the gong we use primal sounds (mantra) to remind us that the entire universe was built on sound, on vibration. As you vibrate a particular combination of sounds, you tune into a different level of intelligence/consciousness.
Join us on Friday, May 6th, for a deep vibrational healing using the sounds of the Gong and Mantra!

KYL's Theme for May & June
|
Yoga for Courage & Fearlessness
|
Acting courageously means acting even though you may be afraid. How do you rise above the occasion and let your inner royalty and radiance shine? How do you manifest—at a moment’s notice—courage and strength to cut through the negativity and exceed your own expectations?
Come to Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) during May and June for inspiring Kundalini Yoga and Meditation classes to
replace fear with courage, to remember that you are part of the Infinite’s light and power,
and to recognize your own magnificence even as you reveal it to others.

Mother’s Day Sunday Class with Shakta Kaur
10:30 am to 12 noon
Delicious vegetarian potluck afterwards.
All are invited!
|
On Mother's Day this Sunday know that your mother's soul deeply loves and cares for you. Honor your mother by holding her in your heart with the gift of your prayers and meditations when you join us in class at Kundalini Yoga in the Loop (KYL) from 10:30 am to 12 noon. Better yet, bring your mother (or daughter!) to class Sunday if you can. It will be a special blessing for the both of you!
You always benefit from holding the loving energy of happiness and hope in your heart for your mother (whether living or deceased). Many have claimed to experience miracles in their lives after re-establishing a bond with their mother. Others say it is miraculous feeling just to energize the divine mother within.
This Sunday come honor and bless your Mother while connecting at the same time with the divine, creative, universal Mother. We hope to see you then!

Grace of the Mother
|
A Lecture by Yogi Bhajan
|
“It gives me a very great satisfaction that I could be such a pure channel that I could do something for the women of America. I am assuring you I will virtually live for this. I am a worshipper of the woman, Bhagwati. Lord Shiva is known to be the God of this earth, and I can kid with him anytime I like, I don’t care for him. But for the Bhagwati I do care very much because I worship her in my heart. She is with me and the Divine Mother protects me all the time. I know my faults and my follies and I know my strong protection. That protection is stronger than anything I have realized in my whole life. Therefore, I feel like just lodging a great protest with the world today. Don’t talk about peace, don’t talk about spirituality, don’t give us a message of Guru Nanak, Jesus Christ, Buddha, Ram, Krishna. We have heard that and heard that.
Give us something so that we may stop exploiting our own mother. Give us something that we can relate to this creative power of the God which is the mother. Give us something we can honestly draw in our heart the image of Grace of the Mother. And O Lord of Lords of the time, if you have created this world, create those environments where everybody’s mother, sister and every woman on this planet can live with grace and there shall be no circumstances in which she has to sell her beauty, sell her body, sell her being, sell her consciousness, to exist on this planet.
I do not know whether my tiny and feeble voice (well, it is very strong, I know about it) can be heard, and where, but I am pretty sure I will shout from those mountains, I will never rest on that planet on which woman is still being exploited. That is my ultimate goal and my ultimate urge.
But I am not fool enough to try single handed. I know my thousands, and hundred thousands and millions of children shall be ready, the day shall be ready, we will wipe out this insult to our own generation, out of this planet. God has given me sufficient big heart, I can practice patience better than I can practice Yoga, therefore, I will wait up to that time when the soul in you will become so pure, so awake, so aware, that you will be willing to sacrifice your being to protect the very gentle, sweet being who brought you to what you are today.”

Chant as You Walk

Times of India features Shakta Kaur discussing the technology of Breathwalk.
Read Story |
‘The Speaking Tree’—a popular column in the Times of India—featured KYL’s own Shakta Kaur in
a Sunday edition.
Times of India journalist Reena Singh begins her column,"Shakta Kaur is always dressed in pristine white clothes and wears an exotic turban, also white. The only hint of colour is the light pink stole she drapes around her shoulders. She’s an American follower of the Sikh Dharma and propagates Kundalini Yoga that she learnt from her guru, the late Yogi Bhajan, an India-born Sikh who moved to the US in the late ’60s." The journalist goes on to describe her personal experience of Breathwalk (the walking meditation practice derived from the Kundalini Yoga tradition). She also describes attending one of the Kundalini Yoga and Meditation classes Shakta taught at the Punarnava Ayurveda and Yoga Conference in Rishikesh last February.
‘Reena was quite intrigued with Breathwalk,’ Shakta says. ‘There wasn’t time in the schedule to teach Breathwalk in Rishikesh. But, I’ve been asked to return again to teach at the Punarnava Conference in February of 2013. Breathwalk will definitely have to make an appearance next time!’
The Times of India is published in seven cities in India. It has a circulation of over 6,000,000 people.

Shakta Teaching at Midwest Yoga Conference
|
Shakta Teaching at the 12th Annual
Midwest Yoga Conference
All for Love
Friday, May 20 – Sunday, May 22
|
For the fifth year in a row Shakta Kaur is teaching Kundalini
Yoga and Meditation at the Midwest Yoga Conference! Each of
Shakta’s workshops features Kundalini Yoga, Meditation and the
Gong.
The Invincible Woman
On Friday, May 20th, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Shakta's focus is ‘The
Invincible Woman.’ The scriptures teach that women are 16 times
more intelligent and 200 times more sensitive than men. But,
Shakta says, ‘women don’t understand how to use this power.
Sixteen times more intelligence is not to count weaknesses or
fears--it is to count blessings.’ This is a special
‘women only’ session as Shakta reveals the beauty of
the Creator manifest as the Shakti within every woman.
Sacred Sexual Bliss On Saturday, May 21, from 8:00 to 10:00
am Shakta teaches that sexuality and spirituality are not
mutually exclusive in ‘Sacred Sexual Bliss with Kundalini Yoga,
Venus Kriyas and the Gong.’ According to yogic teachings there
are over a dozen different types of sexual encounters. In this
session Shakta helps expand your knowledge about how to prepare
for and end each sexual encounter. Appropriate for either
singles or couples (not recommended for pregnant women).
Divine Sexuality On Sunday, May 22,
from 8:00 to 10:00 am Shakta’s workshop focuses on the sexual
relationship as the throne of creativity in ‘Divine Sexuality
with Kundalini Yoga, Meditation and the Gong.’ In this session
she’ll share timeless yogic teachings about men, women,
sexuality, and after-sex care for both men and women. Also included
is how, ideally, the act of sexual intercourse is the final act
which starts in the impulse of spirit as the ‘urge to merge.’
All levels welcome (not recommended for pregnant women).
As in years past, the Midwest Yoga Conference will be held
at the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort & Spa in Bloomingdale,
Illinois. Click

Moon Watch
|
|
New Moon -
May 3
11 Days After - May 14
Full Moon - May 17
(Above Dates Adjusted for Central Time Zone)
|
New Moon
The New Moon is when you are at your lowest...energy-wise. It is
a good day to fast on lemon and water. Fast from sun-up until the
next morning at breakfast, when you "break" the "fast."
Waxing Moon
... is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full
Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into your higher
centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people
or new relationships into your life or to accelerate the progress
of your special projects.
11 Days After
New Moon
Yogi Bhajan taught that this is the day when you are in balance.
The glandular system readjusts itself on this day. Your metabolism
is changing, so if you eat very lightly (green foods) or if you
live just on water and lemon today, your health will be perfect.
Eat very lightly during the day. Eat only one meal and drink lemon
and water the rest of the day.
Full Moon
You are naturally accelerated on a full moon. You are at your highest
energy level. The secretions in your body will be at their maximum,
so you don't want your energy being used to consume food. Save your
energy to reconstruct yourself. Try to drink only liquids on this
day. If you feel you must eat, drink only milk. (But, don't drink
cold milk right out of the refrigerator. Milk should be brought
to a boil. Allow the milk to foam up and then bring the heat down
so the milk is on a slow boil for 5-10 minutes. While cooking it,
you may add a pinch of ground turmeric, a pinch of black pepper,
a cinnamon stick, or a few pinches of ginger to reduce any mucous
causing side effect.)
Waning Moon
... is the time between the Full Moon and the day before the New
Moon. This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations
from your life that no longer serve you. It is not generally thought
of as the best time to start a new project.

A Thought From Yogi Bhajan
"
Mother
The Mother of us all is Nature, The power of God through Grace.
The Mother we serve is Liberty, That sacred right of the human race. The Mother we honor is she who bore us, Who drew milk from her own blood.
So in this day let us bow with reverence, As grateful children should, And respect our Mother Nature, Pledging ourselves to Mother Liberty's light, That the children of the mothers beside us Can have a future which shines bright.
