What is White Tantric Yoga (WTY)?
Our minds release 1000 thoughts per wink of an eye. Some of these thoughts get lost in the unconscious, and some get stuck in the subconscious and affect the conscious mind. These thoughts become feelings, emotions, desires, multi-realities or fantasies. Instead of mastering our mind, often our mind and thoughts direct us, which can cause impulsive decisions, poor communication and self-imposed stress.
White Tantric Yoga
® enables you to break through these subconscious blocks, so you can have a more enjoyable life. In the shortest time, you can experience release from a lot of the burden you carry in your mind.
When you see and act on each moment with clarity, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your life can change. Your mind, body, and soul can act together as one. This is the path to personal freedom and awareness, and will bring more success to every area of your life.
What to Expect White Tantric Yoga
® is done in pairs as a group meditation. You sit facing a partner and follow instructions for meditation given on video by the Mahan Tantric, Yogi Bhajan.
A representative of the Mahan Tantric will be present to facilitate White Tantric Yoga
®. The original facilitators were chosen personally by Yogi Bhajan from members of his staff. Since his passing the Board Members of Humanology and Health Science, which manages White Tantric Yoga, have used the profile he created for choosing new facilitators. Currently all White Tantric Yoga facilitators have studied personally with Yogi Bhajan. The facilitator's role is one of ensuring the methodology given by Yogi Bhajan is carried out, and helping participants maximize their experience.
Each workshop consists of between six and eight kriyas. A kriya is a meditation incorporating:
• a yoga posture (asana)
• a hand position (mudra)
• a breathing technique (pranayama)
• a mental focus
• and/or a mantra
Sometimes the kriyas are accompanied by music. These kriyas vary in length,
for 11 minutes up to sixty-two minutes. There are breaks between each kriya.
The environment is peaceful, and the atmosphere is friendly, supportive, and uplifting. A vegetarian lunch is provided
along with fruit snacks.
Who can Participate
There are no prerequisites for participating in White Tantric Yoga
®. Beginners will tune into their internal energies and enjoy a deep and sometimes challenging meditative experience. More advanced meditation practitioners will deepen their experience and make new inroads to their spiritual awareness.
How to Prepare It is recommended to come to the course ready to meditate. 'Warm-ups' begin at 8:30
AM.
What to Bring • Wear loose, comfortable, white clothing. White combines all the colors and enhances your magnetic field and auric strength.
• Wear a white cotton head covering which completely covers the head and will stay on securely during exercises with movement.
• Bring a deep, very firm cushion to sit on (such as a 'zafu' cushion).
Or bring a firm pillow to fold in half to make a deep cushion.
• Please bring a blanket or sheepskin to sit on and a light blanket
or shawl to cover yourself with during relaxation periods.
• Because this is a cleansing process you will want to drink water. Water will be provided during the day or you may bring your own.
• Fruit snacks will be provided, or bring your own.

For the lowest published room rate this is the place - about $41.50 per
night - but it is a shared room with either 6 or 12 beds. The
rooms are really nice if you can do without privacy. This is perfect when you just need a crash pad.

Very nice rooms and totally convenient because WTY is conducted in
this hotel. The rooms are pricey, about $200 - for one or two
people. |
|
Hotels - via Priceline.com
Hotels in downtown Chicago are pricey -
unless you get one via
Priceline.
Follow these specific directions and you could secure a very nice
hotel for a very low rate; sometimes you can get a Hilton for $70
per night. Please note, once you commit to pay a certain price
- called "Name Your Own Price," you will be charged for the room -
before knowing the exact hotel that accepted your bid. Plus,
you may NOT cancel nor re-assisgn that room - use it or lose it.
Step 1 Go to
www.priceline.com, then
select the Name Your Own Price feature by clicking on the Bid Now
button for Hotels.
Step 2 Select the
proper zone in Chicago for the WTY venue. This year (2011), the event
is between two zones - Zones 7 and 8.
Step 3 Then select the 'star'
level of the hotel, your best deals are from 4-star hotels.
Step 4 Enter a bid for the hotel room, start at
$70 and see what happents. You may need to bid several times,
raising your bid a little bit each time (try $10 raises).
Remember, if your bid is accepted, you have purchased the room - only
after the purchase will you be told the specific hotel that accepted
your bid. Then find a WTY attendee to share the room and split the fee.
Note: Your final hotel bill
will include an additional 15.4% city tax. |

Air and Bus Travel Into Chicago
Midway Airport (MDW)
Several low-cost carriers fly into Midway, such as:
Southwest Airlines,
Air Tran,
Frontier, and others. For more info about Midway airport,
click here. Also note, some low-cost carriers do not have listings on search engines such as Expedia or Travelocity; go directly to
each carriers website to check fares. Convenient train service, the “EL,” runs from Midway to Chicago downtown
(about 25 minutes) and the suburbs for $2.25. Midway is closer to downtown
and less likely to have airport delays.
OHare Airport (ORD)
The big airport in Chicago serves every major airline. For more information about OHare,
click here. Convenient train service, the “EL,” runs from O’Hare to Chicago downtown (about 45 minutes) and suburbs for $2.25.
Generally it is faster to take the EL train downtown rather than a taxi ($50), due to traffic delays.
MegaBus Low Cost, Long Distance
Make reservations and view schedules
online.
Several Midwest & Northeast states are served by Megabus. Sample round-trip fares into Chicago from:
