About the Event

Sat Nam,

Thank you for your interest in White Tantric Yoga (WTY) Chicago! You will be joined by meditators from more than a dozen states for this amazing, powerful, heart-opening and transformative event.

Below is a ‘KEEP UP GUIDE’ to WTY Chicago so that your experience will be the best it can be!

DATE

Saturday, April 28, 2018

VENUE

Jones College Prep High School

700 S. State Street, Chicago, IL, 60605

TIME

7:15 am (registration opens)

8:15 am (warm-ups begin)

9:00 am (WTY begins)

6:30 pm (WTY ends; time approximate)

WHAT’S INVOLVED

WTY participants sit facing each other in rows. Some people arrive with partners (those sitting across from each other), but many people find partners once they arrive. Tell a ‘greeter’ or a ‘monitor’ that you are looking for a partner. And, listen for announcements asking, ‘if you need a partner, please raise your hand.’

Instructions are given by the Mahan Tantric, Yogi Bhajan, via previously recorded videos and are repeated by the Facilitator. The instructions include the length of the meditation, mudra, dristi, pranayam and mantra. The facilitator also reads the transcript of what Yogi Bhajan said when he recorded the meditation.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

Anyone may participate in WTY; beginners as well as experienced meditators! WTY cleanses the individual’s subconscious while the group consciousness supports and uplifts each participant. Your experience of WTY will be different than the next person’s experience. But, know that you will receive exactly what you need at this point in your journey along the spiritual path.

YOUR INTENTION

Once you register for WTY you have set in motion an intention to cleanse, to grow and to progress. You might find it helpful to make a list of the hurdles, blocks, conundrums or areas of your life where you need guidance. Surrender it all into the energy of WTY. As the Mahan Tantric, Yogi Bhajan once said, ‘Give up all your nonsense to Him so you can make sense.’

ALTAR ON-SITE

There will be an altar set up in the WTY room where you may put a photo of yourself, your loved ones, your mala, a crystal or other item precious to you (this is optional and is NOT required). After WTY ends, be sure to pick up your object and take it home!

OUR FACILITATOR

A representative of the Mahan Tantric, Yogi Bhajan, facilitates each White Tantric Yoga® course. The original facilitators were chosen personally by Yogi Bhajan from members of his staff. Since his passing (in 2004) the members of the Board of Humanology and Health Science (HH&S) (which manages White Tantric Yoga®) have used the profile he created for choosing new facilitators. All current White Tantric Yoga® facilitators have studied personally with Yogi Bhajan. The facilitator's role is two-fold. The first is to ensure the methodology given by Yogi Bhajan is carried out, and second, to help participants maximize their experience.

White Tantric Yoga® is a meditation for the facilitator. Her job is to keep in tune with the energy field that is being created during White Tantric Yoga®. Using the diagonal energy, the Mahan Tantric, Yogi Bhajan, connects his subtle body to the subtle bodies of the participants through the facilitator. This works the same way as a worldwide telephone system that relies on satellites and electromagnetic energy to connect two parties. The facilitator acts as a satellite. Each facilitator has a different experience of her role. But, what is true for each is that it is the Mahan Tantric who does the work and the facilitator's job is to facilitate the group to have the experience that was designed for them by the Mahan Tantric, Yogi Bhajan.

We are happy to welcome Satsimran Kaur back to Chicago as our Facilitator this year!

BIO - SATSIMRAN KAUR

Satsimran Kaur was on Yogi Bhajan's personal staff since 1971. She was his appointment and travel secretary until 1987, when he entrusted her to work with him to create the White Tantric Yoga® videos. Over the years she worked in many capacities including as a board member within 3HO Foundation, Sikh Dharma, KRI and 3HO Europe. Satsimran is CEO of WTY worldwide. She has held the vision for the Library of Teachings of Yogi Bhajan and is part of the team that worked upon its development within KRI. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Humanology & Health Science (H&HS) and serves as its CEO. Satsimran is a graduate of Coach University. Her 35 years-plus experience with Yogi Bhajan, her work in human development & transformation as a Life Coach and group facilitator, gives her the knowledge that anything is possible if we are mindful about achieving it and we have fun doing it!

MONITORS

WTY Monitors are people who have previously participated in a WTY course. Monitoring is a very special seva / service. You will recognize Monitors by the special ribbon or armband that they wear.

Monitors are the eyes and ears of the facilitator who cannot always see what each person needs. Monitors walk up and down the WTY lines to be sure participants are understanding and practicing the meditations correctly.

A monitor will help you find a partner if you come to WTY alone. Basically, a monitor's job is to help you go through the WTY experience gracefully.

Even though monitors are not practicing each and every meditation they receive all the benefits WTY. That is because they are within the 9-foot aura of WTY.

WHAT TO BRING/WEAR

Wear loose-fitting, comfortable white clothing, preferably in natural fibers.

Wear a white head covering that completely covers the crown of the head. Be sure your head covering will stay on securely during the meditations that involve movement. See more details regarding white head coverings, below.

Our WTY venue is NOT carpeted. You should bring a yoga mat, blanket and/or sheepskin to sit on and a light blanket, sweater or shawl to cover yourself during relaxation periods. A meditation cushion to sit on is needed – to raise your hips higher than your knees – unless you are accustomed to sitting on the floor for extended periods of time.

A limited supply of water and fruit will be available during breaks. So, be sure to bring your own water bottle. You may also bring additional snacks if you know you’ll need more to eat in between meditations during WTY.

STUDENTS & SENIORS ID

If you registered as a student (high school/college) or a senior (65+) remember to bring your ID. You will be asked to show your student/senior ID at the Registration Table. Those enrolled in a Level 1, 2 or 3 Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training do NOT qualify for the Student Rate.

WHAT NOT TO BRING/WEAR

WTY Chicago is a scent-free environment. As a courtesy to fellow WTY participants please do not wear or bring perfumes, essential oils or sprays. If you use these items during WTY you will be asked to leave and/or wash off all scents.

Do not bring oversized bags or backpacks. A bag that can be folded up after you’ve removed your yoga gear is best. You will be asked to put any oversize backpack or bags against the wall in the WTY room. The aisles in between the WTY lines must remain clear for the monitors.

Do not bring intoxicants of any kind.

BAZAAR

Vendors will offer products and services in the WTY Chicago Bazaar. The Bazaar is open BEFORE WTY begins, so, arrive a little early. The Bazaar is also open during lunch and after WTY ends. The Bazaar will NOT be open during breaks in between kriyas (the meditations). Our lunch period will be extended so all have ample time to visit the Bazaar.

HEAD COVERING

Wearing a white head covering is required during WTY Chicago. The head covering needs to completely cover the crown of your head. The technology of wearing a white head covering--quite simply--keeps your positive energy 'in' and everyone else's energy 'out!'

Note: crocheted caps with large holes are not acceptable. Baseball / caps with 'lids' are also not acceptable.

Arrange to arrive a little early to visit the WTY Bazaar and purchase an appropriate white head covering.

NAME TAGS

Upon arrival go to the Registration Table to check-in and receive a name tag. Everyone in the WTY room must wear a name tag.

MANTRA SHEET

You will receive a mantra sheet containing the mantras for April 28 at the Registration Table.
