Millet Soup

Source: The Cleanse Recipes by Deva Kaur Khalsa

  • 1 cup millet (rinsed)

  • 2 medium onions, diced

  • 2 stalks celery or carrots, bite size

  • 1 clove garlic, diced

  • 2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 2 TBL Bragg Liquid Aminos

  • 1 tsp sea salt (or one stick of kombu)

  • 1 1/2 quarts water

  • 1 inch ginger root, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 2 tsp cumin powder

  1. Put rinsed millet into a medium sized pot, add the water.

  2. Add all of the other ingredients.

  3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer, cover pot. Cook for 1 or 2 hours.

This dish is tasty, although mild; even kids will eat it. For a nice spice hit, serve a salsa on the side.
